The Laaniecoorie Gold Bash runs from Friday to Sunday and includes a number of activities for families to enjoy.
Gold panning and metal detecting session are sure to be popular as will the camping and 4WD displays.
For people looking to try their luck, detector training sessions will be available for people of all skill levels.
The gold bash was formed in 2011 by a group of prospectors who wished to raise money for charity and to meet avid prospectors to help.
Last year the gold bash raised $17,000 for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
The Laaniecoorie Gold Bash is held at the Laanecoorie Lakeside Park in Brownbills Road from October 7 to 9.
Entry to the event is free. For more information head to www.facebook.com/laanecooriegoldbash
