Residents donned their favourite AFL team’s colours and made their way to a function celebrating the end of the tipping season.
This year’s contest was close, with one point separating the winner from second-place, and a point from second to third.
A wooden spoon was awarded to David Patterson on behalf of his late wife Nessie Patterson, who died late last month.
The Collingwood supporter’s tips earned her 91 points.
Geelong supporter Dawn O’Neil was awarded a bronze medal, with 138 points, while Hawthorn fan Judith Bickley won a silver with 139 points.
Defending champion and Collingwood supporter Peg Coates took out the top spot for a second year with 140 points.
The 93-year-old credited the wireless with keeping her up-to-date on the football, being unable to see the television.
Football is also a topic of conversation during her grandson-in-law Shaun Morgan’s weekly visits.
He has called on her every Monday since she moved to the home three years ago.
“Not many young people would do that,” Mrs Coates said.
She’s tipping on the Western Bulldogs to win Saturday’s grand final match against the Sydney Swans.
