The Maurice Moore Urgent Care Centre in Maryborough will be officially unveiled on Tuesday after $150,000 was raised in honour of the officer.
The revamped centre is designed to improve security, privacy and patient care, with a new reception, triage, family respite area and state-of-the-art nurses station.
The slain officer’s son, Paul, and widow, Heather, were founding members of the Maryborough Branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
The committee worked tirelessly to fundraise through barbecues, market stalls, an ironman challenge and two popular Inside Story events.
Paul Moore said it would be a day marked with a combination of “sadness and honour” and thanked the community, Blue Ribbon Foundation Board and Maryborough District Health Service chief executive officer Terry Welch for their support.
“September 27 marks the 30th anniversary of Dad’s death and, although it will be an extremely emotional day, it’s a massive point of pride that we will be able to unveil a lasting tribute that will not only keep his memory and sacrifice in people’s minds, but also provide great health outcomes for the extended Maryborough community,” he said.
Victoria Police chief commissioner Graham Ashton will be present when the centre is officially opened at 3.30pm.
