The meeting was scheduled to be held this Friday, but Racing Victoria announced on Monday that the raceday was off following heavy rain in recent weeks.

The track has received 200mm of rain in the past month and 20mm in the past week.

With more rain forecast for this week the track wouldn’t have dried in time for the meeting. Racing Victoria will attempt to re-schedule the Gunbower Cup for later in the spring.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s meeting at Kyneton has been transferred to Wangaratta.

The Kyneton track was deemed unsafe for racing after more than 150mm of rain fell in 16 days, including 10mm across the weekend.

Meanwhile, Blue Diamond Stakes winner Extreme Choice faces a huge task against older sprinting stars in the Moir Stakes on Friday night. The Group One-winning colt will be out to enhance his own reputation when he makes his first appearance as a three-year-old.

Extreme Choice was taken to Moonee Valley on Monday morning to gallop in preparation for the Group One race in which he will face the world's top-ranked sprinter Chautauqua along with three-time Moir winner Buffering.
