The alt-rock band have released a new single and will head out on a short Victorian tour in October.
Jack and the Kids’ tour will begin at The Rifle on October 8 before heading to Werribee on October 14, Brunswick on October 15 and Warrnambool on October 21.
New single Alone follows on from the band’s other 2016 single Real Again.
The band again teamed up once with Melbourne producer Aaron Dobos, who has recorded with British India, Ceres and Self Talk.
Alone was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne and is set to be released prior to the tour.
At the start of the year Jack and the Kids began work on their next set of songs following their 2015 EP Treasures.
Real Again received excellent reviews and airplay on Triple J and community radio, which helped them earn their a spot at Groovin The Moo Festival this year as a Triple j Unearthed act.
Triple J presenter Bridget Hustwaite called the band’s sound “promising stuff”.
"I reckon this is what we would be sipping on if we chucked City Calm Down, The Jezabels and The Temper Trap in a blender,” she said.
Jack Kennedy formed the group in 2014 and released their debut EP, Treasures, in April last year and have been preparing to put out a new EP later this year.
Lachlan Prest (bass), Matt Thornton (guitar and keyboard) and Braden Geyer (drums) make up the rest of the band.
Supporting the group in Brunswick will be Triple J Unearthed feature artist Alexander Biggs.
Jack and the Kids quickly began established themselves in Bendigo’s music scene after forming with supporting slots for touring artists like Kite String Tangle and Snakadaktal.
“It followed on from me playing a handful of solo shows and I slowly got the band together,” Kennedy said.
"I had a handful of solo gigs before we got together at the end of 2013. We are just four mates in a band.
"They were both really good experiences (playing with Kite String Tangle and Snakadaktal) and it is good to see (local) bands get that opportunity when bigger bands visit.
"We were able to have a good chat with Danny from Kite String Tangle and find out how he feels about playing bigger festivals compared to somewhere like Star Bar."
Jack and the Kids play at The Rifle on Saturday, October 8.
