Approximately 2500 customers in Eaglehawk, Bridgewater, Inglewood, Kamarooka, Neilborough, Raywood, Rheola, Sebastian, Serpentine and Woodvale will be affected by the shutdown, expected to occur between 6am and 8am.
“This outage is taking place to conduct urgent work that is vital to the security of power supply and safety of the network. The job will allow us to replace a number of cross arms on power poles at three different sites,” Powercor’s Avi Tan said.
“The need for these important repairs and subsequent shutdown is essential to protect our customers and prevent potential asset failures in Eaglehawk and its surrounding areas. The works will also help avoid the possibility of extended outages at another time.”
Ms Tan said life support customers should invoke contingency plans on the day of the planned interruption.
“We never want to take our customers off supply, but this work is about making the electricity network safer in the area,” she said.
“We would like to apologise to all of our customers who will be inconvenienced by the shutdown and thank them for their understanding as we conduct these important works.”
