The new shed will boost space for community programs as well as promoting social inclusion and supporting the physical and mental well-being of locals.
Funding for the shed was part of $1.2 million of state government funds set aside to build or refurbish 32 new or existing Men’s Sheds around Victoria.
Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said the Castlemaine Men’s Shed Members who had worked hard to secure this funding.
“We’re not only building a new shed for Castlemaine but building a stronger and more resilient local community,” she said.
“Men’s Sheds are extremely important in helping with the health and wellbeing of our community.”
“They’re a great space for locals to get together, make new friends and provide crucial support networks.”
The Men’s Shed will be built on a new site at the local golf club to replace the current facility which is too small.
