GOLDEN Square coach Nick Carter knows nothing less than an A-grade performance from his side will be good enough to win the BFNL premiership on Saturday.
The Bulldogs have lost just four games for the year, but three have been to their grand final opponents, Sandhurst, including by 53 points in a one-sided second semi-final a fortnight ago.
“It was a big fail that night and we have taken time to think through what happened,” Carter said this week.
“Effort and execution go hand-in-hand… if you want to hit targets by hand and foot you have to be fit and focused and be prepared and it was just a comedy of errors that night.
“But to the boys credit they got over it pretty quickly and got focused on the next week.
“Certainly, it spooked a couple of the boys and sent a message that we’re going to need an A-grade game to get the job done.”
The Bulldogs bounced back from their second semi-final shocker to defeat Eaglehawk by 19 points in the preliminary final last week.
