HARD-PUNCHING Bendigo youngster Tully Scanlon will make his overseas boxing debut in New Zealand on Saturday.
Scanlon, who won the state 54kg junior title in May this season, is back training full-time at the Golden Square-based Hit factory gym.
He spent the winter captaining Golden Square's under-16 football team.
His coach Danniel Burton said Scanlon was looking to get as many bouts in as possible ahead of next year's state titles.
Scanlon is scheduled to face Tawhiri Toheriri Hallett in Hamilton on an Australia versus New Zealand dual match tournament.
Burton said details on his opponent were sketchy.
"All we have been able to find out that he is two-time New Zealand silver medalist at 57kg the last two years," he said.
"The bout is listed at 54kg so we are assuming that he is coming down in weight.
"But that is part of going international, there are sometime a few unknowns, but that’s what makes boxing even more challenging, you must be prepared at all times for whatever is thrown at you, literally."
