Now the Bendigo chapter of ‘all-wheels’ club the Rowdy Rodentz are revving up for a ‘park and flaunt’ car show in Woodvale this Sunday.

Chapter president Jay Dennis said the man nicknamed Snow might not have been at the club long but he had left a mark.

“He he genuinely loved cars,” he said.

“And he really loved old cars. He was always tinkering with them in the shed with his mate Bill.”

Mr Griffiths followed his son James into the club. James is currently club secretary and his mate Bill is still a member.

Mr Dennis said many of Mr Griffiths’ friends and family were expected to attend Sunday’s show.

“But it won’t be a sad thing. It will be a celebration. Snow wouldn’t want anyone crying about it,” he said.

The gates open at the Woodvale Recreational Reserve at 11am and there will be a pre-show cruise from Fitzpatricks Home Hardware in California Gully at 10.30am sharp.

Mr Dennis said the show would feature vehicles made before the 1980s.

“We are trying to get as many spectators there as possible. We will have live music, a few food trucks, coffee, professional face painting and trade stalls selling everything from kids clothing to leather goods and promotional items,” Mr Dennis said.

Money raised from ticket sales, raffles and donations would go towards the cancer centre in the new Bendigo hospital development.

Mr Griffiths was treated in the current Bendigo Health oncology unit.

Mr Dennis said the local chapter of the Rowdy Rodentz began five years ago and had a small but committed group of members.

“It’s an all-wheels club focusing on rat-rods, hot-rods, bobbers and choppers. It’s open to all pre-1980 cars – the ones with steel bumpers,” he said.

“We just like the stuff that came out of that era … the older the better.”
