After winning their first 13 games, the Demons ended the season with a 16-3 record, with two of those defeats coming in the finals at the hands of Charlton.
Firstly by 11 points in the second semi-final, and then by seven in Saturday’s grand final as the Demons fell short in their bid to win their first premiership since 2010.
“I don’t think we’ve played our best footy in the past month or so,” Bull said.
“We showed signs in the second half against Birchip last week, but we probably peaked on our run early in the year and mid-year when we were playing our free-flowing footy and able to get away with it a little bit.
“You’ve got to be playing good footy in finals and doing it at the right end of the season, but unfortunately, we weren’t this year.”
Bull said a lack of execution on Saturday proved costly for the Demons, who fought back from 20 points down during the third quarter to level the scores at the 18-minute mark of the final term, but they couldn’t go on with it.
“They were the better team on the day, played the better footy and had some really dangerous players,” Bull said.
The Demons spent most of the game trailing after conceding three of the first four goals of the match.
