These holidays all of our art workshops are inspired by our two current exhibitions – one is about fashion and the other is focused on contemporary Australian drawing.
The workshops, which will be held at the gallery from September 20 to 29, are for children aged four to 14 years.
Bookings are essential for all workshops and payment must be made at the time of booking. Workshop dates may be swapped but unfortunately no refunds are available.
4 – 7 years
Cost is $8 per child, per session. Accompanying adults free. All students participating in these workshops must be accompanied by an adult.
Shapes and Shadows – drawing and photography: We will begin this workshop by looking at our current drawing exhibition the Paul Guest Prize. Participants will then move to the gallery art space and, using found objects, create some interesting temporary sculptures. These constructions, along with light, will then be used as a basis for shadow drawings and photography using ipads and image software.
Participants will experiment with different drawing materials and ways of drawing a self-portrait.

Wednesday, September 21 and 28, 1.15pm to 2.15pm.
Designer Bags – fabric collage: Australian fashion designer Toni Maticevski works with lots of fabulous fabrics. These bags will be as individual as each participant and will feature cut, collaged and sewn fabric along with an assortment of other great textile items.
Tuesday, September 20 and 27, 1.15pm to 2.15pm.
Wednesday, September 21 and 28, 11am to noon.
8 – 14 YEARS

Look at me – selfies with props, pens and ipads: This workshop is inspired by the fantastic drawing exhibition, the Paul Guest Prize, now on at the gallery. In the exhibition we will look together at the different way artists have approached drawing the face and the figure. Participants will then have the chance to use some props to dress themselves up, and take some ipad selfies. Using these images participants will experiment with different drawing materials and ways of drawing a self-portrait.
September 22- 29, 11am to 12:30pm and 1.30pm to 3pm.
