AFL Central Victoria has released its new points allocations for 2017 for the Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and North Central leagues.
Of the 36 clubs across the four leagues, there have been alterations made to the player point allocations of 17 clubs.
Among those are BFNL clubs Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Gisborne, Sandhurst and Strathfieldsaye, who are all on 36 points this year, which are the lowest tallies of any clubs across the the 17 “Premier Community Competitions” throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria.
Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Sandhurst and Strathfieldsaye – the last four teams left in the BFNL premiership race – will have an extra two points in their player budget next year of 38, while having won just three games this season, Gisborne has been given a major boost of an extra nine points to 45.
Gisborne, on the back of a team of home-grown talent, used the lowest number of player points for the season this year with an average of just 22.7, while Kyneton was the highest pointed BFNL team on average with 41.6.
In other changes around the region, Heathcote District grand finalists North Bendigo and Leitchville-Gunbower have both had two points shaved off, while White Hills (+2) and Lockington-Bamawm United (+4) will both have additional points.
Inglewood, Mitiamo and YCW have all been deducted two points in the Loddon Valley.
And there has been alterations to five of the North Central’s eight clubs.
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers, St Arnaud and Wedderburn have an extra two points, while Charlton and Donald have been deducted two.

AFLCV SUMMARY: We have increased the base figure from 36 to 38 so that this is in line with other Premier competitions across the state (e.g. Geelong 40, Ovens and Murray 38, Goulburn 42). We are still maintaining the points for South Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat, whilst Maryborough, Kyneton and Castlemaine still are eligible for the extra points. The other big change is that it is felt that Gisborne should be on the same line as Kyneton, Castlemaine and Maryborough due to some of the similar challenges and recent lack of success.
