BTA executive officer Leon Retallick said the council’s decision to award the contract for the project to Nicholson Construction on Wednesday night was the culmination of a process which would bring the upgrade from a dream to reality.
“This is a foundation to grow tennis for the next 30 years,” he said.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Rod Fyffe said the project demonstrated the city’s commitment to providing first-class sport and recreation facilities for residents.
“Construction of the Bendigo Tennis Centre upgrade is expected to begin before the end of the year, and construction on the new Aquatic Centre is already under way,” he said.
“There are a number of large scale infrastructure projects happening at the moment, which will give residents access to high quality sport and recreation facilities.”
