BENDIGO: A second telephone shop has been the target of theft, following a similar incident on August 23.
Sergeant Jason McDermott said the thief stole a Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch valued at $300 from the Optus retail store in the Bendigo Marketplace at about 4.52pm on August 29.
Sergeant McDermott said the offender cut the watch’s security cord before being chased into the Marketplace car park by staff where he made a getaway in a White Toyota Hilux.
On August 30, a 1991 Holden HD Commodore, valued at $25,000 was stolen from the Bendigo Railway Station car park.
Sergeant McDermott said the victim had parked their car while shopping between 12pm and 3pm before returning to find the vehicle missing.
KANGAROO FLAT: A man stole about $70 worth of groceries from the Kangaroo Flat Aldi on August 29.
Sergeant McDermott said the store’s alarm was triggered and staff followed the man out of the shop where he became aggressive towards them and left on foot at about 4.17pm.
A car’s number plates (registration NDO-642) were stolen from outside an address on Allingham Street overnight on August 29.
Sergeant McDermott said the car was broken down by the side of the road when the plates were stolen between 6.30pm on August 29 and 5am on August 30.
AXEDALE: Thieves stole a cement bird bath from the Axedale Kindergarten over the weekend.
Sergeant McDermott said the offenders broke into the yard of the property between Saturday, August 27 and Monday, August 29.
He said the thieves would have had to have used a vehicle to remove the birdbath from the property due to its large size and weight.
