JUSTIN Thompson's remarkable darts comeback has continued, with the Bendigo player winning the Victorian Masters on the weekend.
Thompson, who will next month represent Australia in Japan, was crowned Darts Victoria singles champion in Dandenong on Sunday.
It was the second of two wins for the 47-year-old on the weekend.
He combined with Steve Duke to capture the men's doubles championship a day earlier.
Thompson and Duke were Victorian teammates during last month's Australian Darts Championships, held in Bendigo at the All Seasons Hotel.
The masters is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Darts Victoria calendar, with Thompson’s win qualifying him for the Australian Grand Masters in Canberra next year.
Thompson is now looking forward to his trip to Japan.
“I’m pretty happy with the way I am going,” he said.
“I have one more tournament coming up before I leave and that’s the Australian Masters in Geelong.
“That’s the weekend before I go.”
Thompson only returned to competition darts earlier this year after a 12-year hiatus.
His selection for Japan also ends a 12-year absence from the national team, with the win qualifying Thompson for the Australian Grand Masters in Canberra next year.
He last represented Australia the World Cup in Epinal, France, in 2003.
