EPSOM has capped a dominant Bendigo Amateur Soccer League season by clinching the women's championship title.
The Scorpions defeated the Hawks 3-1 at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve on Sunday, giving them 40 of a possible 42 points for the season.
Coach Brenton Ellis said he could not have been prouder of his team, which contained a strong mix of youth and experienced players.
"It's a fantastic group we have here, they all play for each other and every single person has their job and they do it well," he said.
"We are really fortunate to have such a talented squad.
"Going forward, we were really strong with our combination play and we put it all together it looks very good to watch."
This was Ellis' first season coaching the women's team after several years in charge of the club's junior teams.
His was a largely young team, with the average age of the squad about 18.
"The future looks really bright for these girls," he said.
"To go through the season undefeated was a real achievement."
Only a 2-all draw against Spring Gully earlier this month stopped the Scorpions from registering a perfect 14-win season.
They finished the season with a massive 101 goal difference.
In Tara Thomas, Caitlin Green and Elizabeth Watkins, Epsom had three of the league's top four scorers.
They were joined by Spring Gully's Ally Van Dalen.
With the championship safe in their keeping, the Scorpions will now set their sights on finals.
"Hopefully that's another cup that we can add to the trophy cabinet," Ellis said.
"We're finding some good form coming into finals and hopefully we can finish the season on a high."
Ellis paid respect to Eaglehawk and said they had pushed his Epsom team to the limit in both games played this season.
