The Spartans are coming off a 23-point hiding from the Braves in last week’s semi-final, while the Spectres eliminated Dandenong in fine style.
While Brisbane was poor against Bendigo, the Spartans will be buoyed by the fact they defeated Nunawading their two home and away matches this season.
The Spectres enter the preliminary final in season-best form. They’ve won seven of their past eight games and in four of those wins they’ve scored more than 85 points.
The east conference grand final will be played in Bendigo on September 3. The winner of that match will play the south conference winner in the SEABL championship game in Melbourne on September 10.
Mt Gambier will host the south conference grand final next weekend against either the Hobart Chargers or the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.
