The Bendigo Harriers athlete won last Saturday's event in a time of 49.22, ahead of O’Keefe Marathon winner and Harriers teammate Jamie Cook (51.34) and invitation runner Nathan Meade 54.10.
Club members from the four Athletics Bendigo affiliated clubs and others participated over distances ranging from 750m to 15kms.
The event for the first time was held at on the O’Keefe Trail starting at Peppercorn Park, Longlea Lane and Axe Creek.
A small but quality field contested the women’s 15km, won by O’Keefe Marathon winner Sarah Jalim (Bendigo University) in a slick 59.44.
Bendigo University's Rebecca Wilkinson was second in 65.35 ahead of teammate Els Viester (68.31).
In the age group categories for the 15km event, the winners in the 40 plus were Ingrid Douglass (70.18) and the in-form Rik McCaig (56.47).
Peter Cowell (56.55) easily won the 50 plus, while the evergreen Kevin Shanahan took the honours in the 60 plus.
The junior under-20s was won by Kye Jenkyn (Bendigo Harriers) in 54.58, who was also fourth on line honours.
Possibly the run of the event came from 13 year old Ned Buckell (Bendigo Harriers) who ran the 15km journey at under 4 minute km pace with a time of 59.39.
The 3km event saw the return of Lee McCullagh to the local running scene taking the win in 10.11 from repeat winner this season Ben Powell (10.20) and Rhys Lias (10.22).
The girls 3km race saw the talented Yazmin Hayes cruise to victory in 11.13 from Bridie Blake-Burrows (11.44) and Zahli Drummond (11.56).
Age group winners in the 3km event were Yazmin Hayes and Matt Buckell (10.56) in the under 15s, Bridie Blake-Burrows and Ben Powell in the under-18s.
In the open aged event it was Lee McCullagh and Alexandra Liacos (12.12).
The 1500 event produced some great battles.
Jayda Drummond (6.03) and Megan Wilson (6.07) were close throughout in the under-12 event, while in the boys Toby McCaig (5.34) and Oscar Fox (5.48) also ran some slashing times.
The under-10s contested the 750m and Amber Fox (3.49) clearly won her event as did Axel Drummond (3.01).
On Sunday, September 4, the clubs and members of the community will assist raising funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and contest the Moira Macs Run 4 Dad event at the Bendigo racecourse.
