“The offending vehicle was much smaller than the vehicle she hit and it’s veered her off into a neighbouring property’s fence,” he said.
Senior Constable Deason praised the work of firefighters who attended the crash.
“The fire brigade members did a fantastic job refixing the fence for the lady,” he said.
There were no injuries.
Police issued the driver of the Toyota Starlet a penalty notice and attributed the collision to driver inexperience.
EARLIER: North Bendigo resident Loretta Parmenter looked out her bedroom window on Tuesday morning to see a car had crashed through the fence.
“It freaked me out,” she said.
“I was still in bed and all I heard was a rev up.
“I didn’t even hear the screech of brakes or anything.”
Two cars collided at the intersection of Bayne and Bannister Streets about 8.35am.
A witness to the collision said one of the cars failed to give way.
Ambulance Victoria attended, but was not required.
Police and firefighters were also at the scene.
“I’ve been waiting for an accident to happen at this roundabout,” Ms Parmenter said.
She said she had been renting the property for about two years and had been worried by drivers speeding through the intersection.
Three of her granddaughters, a daughter and a daughter-in-law were also in the house at the time of the collision.
“My daughter and two granddaughters were here from Queensland,” Ms Parmenter said.
She said the crash had been the cause of some excitement for her granddaughters.
