The two-vehicle accident occurred just before noon at the intersection with Nish Street and a woman was taken to hospital with suspected leg injuries.
She was trapped in her car for 30 minutes while SES workers and firefighters worked to free her from her Nissan Nomad.
The driver of the other car, Summer Lowe, said she was turning into her driveway when the van crashed into the back of her car.
“I had my daughter in the car and I’m just grateful we’re all all right and I hope the woman is OK, too. It’s quite dangerous around here. Near misses happen a lot.”
Resident of the street for more than 30 years, Gary Muston said the road had become a hot spot for crashes and near misses as more people used it. “We are very concerned,” he said. “There’s a high volume of traffic on this road.
“I’ve been here a long time and it is getting busier, especially with the developments in Strathdale.”
Mr Muston said residents had reported many near misses, especially when turning into their driveways.
He said the high rate of university students and rental properties meant there were lots of cars parked in the area.
“There’s a lot of cars parked on the side of the road and a lot of people using it. It really makes it hard for people entering and exiting properties.”
He said the police and council should investigate if there was anything they could do to improve the safety of the street.
“I don’t like to have to see this kind of thing (a car crash) to prove there is a problem,” he said.
