Now a five-year-old, Setinum won the award on the back of his stunning first up win in last year’s Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m).
Setinum stormed home in the $120,000 race to defeat a field that included Group One winner Stratum Star.
The gelding had luckless runs in the Memsie Stakes and the Bobbie Lewis Quality and finished his campaign with a third placing at Flemington on Stakes Day.
Setinum, who also won the sprinter of the year award, hasn’t started since because of injury.
