UPDATE 12.35pm: An elderly man was lucky to escape serious injury when the grey Ford Laser he was driving was struck by another car on the corner of Mundy and Sternberg streets in Kennington on Friday.

The 78-year-old was trapped in the vehicle for about half an hour before being transported to hospital for observation.
After he was freed by the SES, the man was able to walk to a stretcher under his own power, assisted by paramedics.
Leading senior constable Kevin Hume-Cook said the man had failed to give way at the intersection before his car was struck by a white Kia Rio, travelling south.
The Kia’s 27-year-old male driver was uninjured.
The intersection was closed for a short time, with paramedics, police, SES and CFA members all present.
EARLIER: The driver of the Ford Laser has been freed from the vehicle.
Paramedics assisted the man as he walked to a stretcher and was placed in an ambulance.
The road is now being cleared.
UPDATE 12.10pm: State Emergency Service crews are on scene as paramedics attend to the driver of one of the vehicles, a grey Ford Laser.
The person is currently trapped in the car.
The second vehicle involved was a white Kia Rio.
EARLIER: Emergency services are on scene following a two-car crash in Kennington.
Traffic is being diverted around the scene at the corner of Mundy and Sternberg streets.
One person appears to be trapped.
