Nankervis was here less than a month ago with RocKwiz, which he presents with Julia Zemiro.
This time around the entertainer will present an evening of stand-up comedy, poetry performance and storytelling at Bendigo Library on Thursday, August 4.
During his time on Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Nankervis’ alter-ego was an eccentric performance poet named Raymond J Bartholomeuz.
“We are delighted to have Brian presenting as he has been a much-loved icon of Australian television for many years,” Goldfields Library Corporation chief executive Chris Kelly said.
“Brian offers a great mix of comedy with a literary spin, and his presentation is an exciting way to kick off an action-packed Write on the Fringe program.”
Write on the Fringe will also feature a songwriting workshop with Powderfinger’s Darren Middleton on August 13 and the awakening of learning dragon Hock Loong.
Hock Loong is a community art project that will hang above the children’s area of the library.
Write on the Fringe will be officially launched on August 5 by City of Greater Bendigo mayor Rod Fyffe and BendArts founder Hugh Waller.
A number of exhibitions and installations will also feature during the festival including Julie Andrews’ art activity that uses magnetic words and letters to break through writer’s block and an exhibition on loan from the Golden Dragon Museum will showcase the Chinese written word.
Brian Nankervis is at Bendigo Library on August 4 from 6pm to 7pm. Bookings essential.
Darren Middleton’s songwriting workshop is on August 13 from 9.30am to 11am.
Bookings are not required for the songwriting workshop but Goldfields Library advises that you get there early.
All Write on the Fringe Festival events are free and are located at Bendigo Library.
Some events require bookings. Visit www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au/fringe for the full program and bookings.
