The warning applies to the Central and North Central forecast districts, among others, which encompass such towns as Kyneton, Castlemaine and Maryborough.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast that some areas will experience damaging winds of 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h on Tuesday afternoon and evening, ahead of a cold front that will move across the state.
The SES advises that people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure or put away loose items outside and keep clear of fallen power lines.
A warning for sheep graziers has also been renewed due to the wet and windy conditions forecast for Tuesday, which could lead to loss of exposed sheep and lambs.
BOM senior forecaster Dean Stewart said the conditions meant there was a slight chance of light snow flurries at the peak of Mount Macedon, but any snow that did fall would be unlikely to settle on the ground.
Bendigo can expect a partly cloudy day of 10 degrees, with a high chance of showers in the afternoon and evening and the possibility of hail.
The city might also be in for a thunderstorm later in the night.
Meanwhile Castlemaine is heading for a maximum of eight degrees with showers and a possible thunderstorm in the evening, and Maryborough can expect similar conditions.
