Eight people were arrested in Bendigo on the weekend for not appearing in court on a range of matters, most of which were considered minor offending.
Sergeant Tony Commadeur said warrants had been issued for the arrests of the offenders, who could now face an extra charge on top of their original charges.
He said police were actively seeking to “round up” people who had not appeared in court.
“If people are aware that there is a warrant out for their arrest, they might as well hand themselves in to police because we will catch up with them,” Sergeant Commadeur said.
An extra charge of failing to appear in court can be added if the person is out on bail, but not if they are on court summons.
The court has the power to issue warrants for the arrest of people who do not appear at their court date.
