The Braves outlasted Dandenong in a high-scoring contest on Saturday night, before surviving a scare from Kilsyth on Sunday.
With the two victories the Braves – who have won 10 in a row – are now 18-3 and can’t be dislodged from the top of the east conference heading into their last three games.
On Sunday the Braves overcame a sluggish first half to defeat Kilsyth 82-71 at the Bendigo Stadium.
Missing starters Damian Johnson (ankle) and Kevin White (shoulder) the Braves scored just 29 points in the first half as they trailed 29-37 at the main break.
But a 29-14 third term propelled the home side to a seven-point lead at the final change as the momentum swung the Braves’ way.
Star import Jeremy Kendle shouldered a heavy offensive load for the Braves, pouring in 36 points, dishing out eight assists and spending all 40 minutes on court, with Matthew Andronicos (10) the only other player to score in double figures.
Chris Hogan hauled down 11 rebounds to go with his nine points.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night the Braves exacted revenge on the last team to have beaten them – the Rangers.
The Braves prevailed 96-87 at Dandenong in a game they had led by just two points going into the final quarter.
Kendle again led the Braves’ scoring with 30 points, while Kevin White was superb with a season-high 28 points, Andronicos (17) was also strong at the offensive end and Hogan contributed 10 points.
Daniel Hansen scored nine points off the bench – all from three-pointers.
