TWO wins would have been ideal, but for the Bendigo Lady Braves, one victory was better than none at the weekend.

The Lady Braves split their weekend SEABL double 1-1, winning away against Dandenong on Saturday night, before going down to Kilsyth at home on Sunday.
The weekend’s results leave the Lady Braves with an 8-10 record and in fifth spot on the east conference ladder.
On Saturday night in Dandenong the Lady Braves avenged their earlier loss this season to the defending SEABL champion Rangers with a 78-68 victory.
The win was brilliantly spreaheaded by star Kelly Wilson, who scored an equal season-high 32 points.
Wilson scored 16 of her points from the free-throw line, where she shot 16-of-19 for the game.
Wilson was well supported by Chante Black (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Keely Froling (11 points, 11 rebounds), who both had double-doubles.
Jane Chalmers (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Lady Braves.
However, the Lady Braves were unable to back up Saturday night’s win, suffering a 79-71 defeat against Kilsyth on Sunday in the rematch of last year’s east conference grand finalists at the Bendigo Stadium.
The Lady Braves trailed by as many as 14 points during the last quarter, but surged back into the contest, closing the gap to just three with 6:19 remaining on the back of a Chalmers’ three-pointer.
However, that would be as close as the Lady Braves’ got, although, the game was still alive inside the last minute when the Cobras led by four with 43 seconds remaining.
Froling (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Black (12 points, 16 rebounds) again had double-doubles, while Wilson scored 23 points to go with six assists.
Wilson shot 10-of-11 from the free-throw line for a weekend tally of 26-of-30.
“We got off to a slow start today and just never seemed to be able to get into a rhythm,” Lady Braves coach Jonathan Goodman said after Sunday’s defeat.
“At the start of the third quarter we gave up a 12-2 run, which really hurt us, and we then had to chase down a 14-point deficit.

“We got it back to three in the last quarter, but full credit to Kilsyth… they are the top team and proved why today.”
The Lady Braves host Sandringham (4-13) from 6pm at the Bendigo Stadium next Saturday night.
