The Neangar Park Golf Club product will head to Miami next month to play golf and study at Keiser University.
“About 18 months ago I started to think about what I wanted to do after high school finished and where I wanted to concentrate on golf or studies,’’ Lynch said.
“This is a way I can do both at the same time. I get to work on my golf game and get a degree.
“Half of the week is dedicated to golf and the other half to study.”
Lynch, who will study biomedicine at Keiser, plays off a handicap of two, but he has been as low as scratch.
The 18-year-old will be the only Australian on the Keiser University Seahawks’ male golf squad.
“It’s going to be a great experience,’’ he said.
“Keiser has a number of players from Europe in the squad. We play in a tournament basically every week and get plenty of time to work with the coaches.”
Keiser’s golf program head coach Brandon Miller said Lynch was a welcome addition to the Seahawks’ program.
"Kurtis is an exciting recruit for us to add,’’ Miller said.
“I know our golf team's family environment will be a great place for Kurtis to grow as a student and golfer.
“He has an impressive golf swing and an even more impressive tournament resume to back it up; we're thrilled to welcome him to West Palm Beach in August.”
Lynch represented Victoria as a junior and has spent the past two years playing pennant golf with Commonwealth Golf Club.
He hopes the college golf experience will help him achieve his sporting dream.
“My number one goal is to become a professional golfer after college,’’ Lynch said.
