Maryborough man Andrew Pearson, 31, appeared in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on Thursday in a filing hearing, related to assault offences and charges of intentionally causing serious injury.
The charges stem from an alleged altercation at a Sutton Road address in Maryborough on Wednesday morning, police said.
Emergency services were called to a nearby fast food restaurant at 12.20am, after workers dialed triple-0 when an 18-year-old Clunes man entered the restaurant suffering stab wounds.
He was later transferred to Ballarat Base Hospital in a serious condition.
The defendant’s lawyer, Kylie Moloney, made no application for bail during Thursday’s hearing.
Pearson was remanded in custody until September 28, when he is expected to appear in the Bendigo Magistrates Court via video link.
