As Victoria braces for a cold, windy week, the worst of the winter conditions are expected to bypass Bendigo, the Bureau of Meteorology has said.
But the city and its surrounds should still prepare for winds of up to 70 kilometres per hour for the next three days.
Bureau spokesperson Stuart Coombs said gusts of 90 km/h had already been recorded on Mt William in the Grampians.
Low elevation snowfalls on Tuesday and Wednesday could again see Mt Macedon turn white, like it did last month.
The cold snap continues what Mr Coombs called an "unsettled" period of weather across the country, conditions which saw floods in Gippsland, Tasmania and New South Wales earlier this year.
"A real blast of winter is on its way," he said.
His organisation has issued a flood watch for rivers in north-east Victoria, already full from a wet autumn and start to winter.
"It doesn't take much for them to burst their banks in those circumstances," Mr Coombs said.
