Support for Bendigo’s first community giving day is mounting, with more causes joining the initiative.
Three sporting clubs have registered to participate in the 24-hour online fundraiser, Big Give, on September 1.
Their campaigns include Cricket Nets for All Abilities, Ramp it up for Bealiba Pony Club, and Change for Change by Bendigo Blaze Inline Hockey Club.
Radius, Relay for Life and Lifeline are among the large not-for-profits to join Haven, Home Safe; Women’s Health Loddon Mallee, CFA and Bendigo Health Foundation in the Big Give.
Eleven small not-for-profit organisations have registered causes.
They include Girls Night Out, raising money for a travel fund for Echuca-Moama cancer patients; Mums4Mums, supporting single mothers in need; and Bendigo Easter Festival.
Campaigns include Rare and Terminal, by the Australian NPC Disease Foundation; Wheels in Motion; and Cheers for Volunteers – Changing Lives and Building Vibrant Communities.
Beyond Blue has registered a Fight for Life Fun Run and Tower Club, and MADCOW Stampede is running a “Make a difference – change our world” campaign.
Other organisations involved in the Big Give include The Otis Foundation and Quality Living Options Bendigo.
Community Foundation for Central Victoria executive officer Ann Lansberry said there was an information night for sporting clubs at The Borough Club in Eaglehawk from 5.30pm tonight.
An online information session has been scheduled for Thursday, July 14, from noon for those who can’t make it in person.
