But organisers remain confident of getting through Friday's schedule of singles and doubles semi-finals at the Nolan Street complex.
With rain and even hail falling across the city, Bendigo Tennis Association executive officer Leon Retallick said only an hour's play was possible.
"Basically we have had to cancel some of our consolation events and our mixed doubles events that we had planned to play," he said.
"We literally just don't have enough courts and time to be able to lay them all.
"We have continued with all our main draw semi-finals and finals.
"Fortunately we foresaw a bit of weather was coming today (Thursday) yesterday and we played a couple of additional matches to try and get us to a position where would be able to complete the finals if the rain did come."
Melbourne's Daniel Byrnes is through to the final of the AMT men's singles.
The former United States division one college player and current coach of Blackburn Tennis Club advanced after his intended opponent Matthew Leffler withdrew with injury after his quarter final win.
Byrnes, the tournament's number four seed, will meet the winner of Friday's semi-final between the number three seed Chase Ferguson and wildcard Mitchell Ian Burman.
Burman earlier in the week eliminated local hope Erik Holt-Crossman.
South Australian Elyse Edwards has advanced to the women's ATM final, where she will meet the winner of Friday morning's semi-final between Monika Rajicic and Noelleda Ah San.
The 24-year-old s the tournament’s number two seed.
Rajicic is seeded third, while Ah San entered the main draw as a qualifier.
More than 930 matches have been played during the first four days open and junior categories from under 10s to under 18s.
Doubles finals will be played at the conclusion of Friday’s singles finals.
