The Bendigo Competitions Society’s annual dance eisteddfod is now in its 91st year and will see more than 2500 acts perform over two weeks at Bendigo South East College.
“Acts are comprised of solos, duos, trios and troupes. Some troupes have 14 dancers, some have five. It’s a very big event,” Bendigo Competitions Society president and dance co-ordinator Fay Thomas said.
“There are quite a few competitors from Melbourne and Gippsland. We have several large dance schools in Bendigo and all of those schools support the competition.”
Competitions started on Monday and continue until July 8 when the Foundry Invitational Dancing Championship showcases the cream of the eisteddfod’s crop.
This Sunday will also feature the Society’s Stage Spectacular Evening at The Capital from 7pm.
