The City of Greater Bendigo’s free information session will be held at the Bendigo Library on Thursday July 7 from 5pm-6.30pm.
The ctiy’s chief executive officer Craig Niemann, planning and development director Prue Mansfield and organisation support director Kerryn Ellis will discuss the future direction of council, including the 2016/2017 budget and council plan, the training and development of councillors and councillor support.
Mr Niemann said the information session was an opportunity for potential council candidates and residents to understand more about the issues facing the new Council after the October 22 election and beyond.
“The city has been pleased by the community attendance at this series of information sessions,” he said.
“A mix of residents and potential council candidates have welcomed learning more about local government and its ever-changing role.
“This session will provide information about the process for a new council to develop the council plan and annual budget, which is a legislative requirement.
“For those who are considering nominating as a council candidate, this is also an opportunity to understand how the city as an organisation supports its Councillors and learn more about governance and meeting community expectations.”
