The 78-year-old woman from Diggora West, near Rochester, was travelling south on the Midland Highway at 7.15am when she failed to negotiate a bend in the road, cutting across the northbound lane and crashing through a barbed wire fence.
Her car rolled over on its bonnet, narrowly missing cows grazing in the field.
CFA and SES crews also attended the scene, and the driver was taken to hospital for observation.
Leading Senior Constable Pat Allan said the cause of the incident was still under investigation but he reminded drivers to take car in wet and icy conditions this winter.
