Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
A spokesman for the Bendigo Highway Patrol unit asked drivers to slow down in foggy and icy conditions.
The crash is the latest incident in a horror 12 hours on Victorian roads. A driver was killed in Beveridge yesterday evening, while a passenger was killed by a passing truck in Glenroy after getting out of a car in the roadside emergency lane.
The deaths bring the year’s road toll to 149 deaths.
EARLIER: A man has been seriously injured in a Calder Highway car crash this morning.
Emergency services were called to the highway at Big Hill about 5.15am where a male driver travelling north had lost control of his Mercedes, rolling the vehicle.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was hurt in the crash.
The man, who sustained head and pelvis injuries in the incident, was taken to Bendigo hospital in a stable condition.
Northbound lanes of the Calder Freeway remain closed at Big Hill while police investigate the cause of the crash.
