The Blues’ 1-0 win over Colts United combined with Epsom’s 1-1 draw with Spring Gully saw Strathdale leapfrog the Scorpions back to the top of the table.
The Blues have four wins from games and have 12 points, two clear of Epsom. The two teams meet in a blockbuster clash at Beischer Park next Saturday.
A goal from substitute Daniel Maierhofler in the 84th minute was enough for Strathdale to clinch the three points against Cots United.
Epsom was five minutes away from retaining top spot when it led Spring Gully 1-0.
However, a goal from Spring Gully’s Josh Naunton in the 85th minute levelled the scores and ruined Epsom’s day.
Naunton’s fifth goal of the season was a reward for the Reds, who remain in fourth place on the ladder.
Earlier, Epsom teenager Alex Caldow opened the scoring in the 43rd minute.
Eaglehawk is in third spot on the ladder after outclassing Golden City 5-1.
A 10th minute goal from Michael Maloney gave the Rams a sniff of an upset, but the Hawks had other ideas.
Daniel Kelly, Brent Hamblin, Nathan Hamblin and Col Samuel scored for the Hawks before half-time.
In the second half, Nathan Hamblin rounded out the win with his second goal and his team’s fifth goal.
Epsom is the undisputed favourite for the women’s championship after thrashing second-placed Spring Gully 7-1 on Sunday.
The top of the table clash was expected to be a great battle and the first half lived up to the hype, with the Scorpions holding a narrow 1-0 lead at the break.
The second half was a different story. Epsom blew the Reds away, adding six goals to one in a stunning performance.
Tara Thomas scored a hat-trick for the Scorpions to take her season tally to 15.
Caitlin Robertson found the back of the net twice, while Jo Hill and Paige Gordon also scored. Amanda Sagrioto continued her good form and scored for Spring Gully.
Epsom now sits three points clear of the Reds and their goal difference is superior by 30 goals.
Strathdale and Colts United played out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Skipper Rachel Oper scored for the Blues, while Ebony-Jade Jones was the goal scorer for Colts.
Six goals in six minutes sparked Moama to a 7-3 win over Swan Hill.
Bronte Smith, Indre Christy and Brittany Sands scored two goals each for the Raiders.
Scores were 1-1 at half-time, but the Raiders produced an amazing six-minute burst early in the second half to seal the points.
Eaglehawk handed Golden City a 16-0 thumping.
Hawks’ star Amy Skvarc scored six goals to take her season tally to 10.
Rikki Ross was also prominent with five goals, while Charlotte Edlin scored a hat-trick.
Tara Archbold and Emma Webb were the other Hawks to find the back of the net.
