The exhibition, titled Provenance Does Matter: Living with Contemporary Art, comes from the Alcaston Gallery in Fitzroy.
Exhibition coordinator James Dunn said he was excited to work with the Alcaston Gallery director Beverley Knight.
“I’ve known Beverley for some time and have had a lot top do with commercial and public galleries,” he said.
“I had hoped to partner with her for this exhibition and she was very keen to support the space.”
Provenance Does Matter is a collection of contemporary photography, video, paintings, ceramics and sculptures and includes work by renowned artist Greg Semu.
Semu also currently has an installation on the ground floor of the National Gallery of Victoria.
Regional artists will also be featured in the exhibition with ceramic artist Dean Smith and Bendigo-born artist Judy Holding to exhibit pieces at the gallery.
Naomi Hobson, Nonggirrnga Marawili, Dhambit Mununggurr and Angela Tiatia are also featured in the exhibition.
Gallery 369 was established as an art showroom inside the Valentine’s Antiques shop on Hargreaves Street after a recent renovation.
It plans to host exhibitions from a different high-end artist every three months and also aims to complement what the Bendigo Art Galelry and the city is presenting as a cultural hub.
“The space is amazing and it is fantastic that we can provide the only commercially exclusive space in the Bendigo CBD. It’s very exciting,” Mr Dunn said.
“Being between train station and Bendigo Art Gallery is a perfect location to see a lot of (Marilyn) visitors who are interested in arts at all levels.
“It is fantastic to have that exhibition running at same time and we are also looking forward Matichevski show and the Paul Guest Prize and exhibition.
“We will again look forward to complementing those exhibitions and being able to give people the full arts experience in Bendigo.”
Renowned landscape painter Jeff Makin was the first artist to occupy Gallery 369 earlier this year.
“To have the Jeff Makin show from the James Makin Gallery in Collingwood got a fantastic response,” Mr Dunn said.
Provenance Does Matter: Living with Contemporary Art opens at Gallery 369 in Hargreaves Street on Saturday, July 2. It runs until August 13.
