On behalf of the organising committee of the Bendigo Inventor Awards, City of Greater Bendigo chief executive Craig Niemann was presented with the Economic Development Australia Award.
Economic Development Australia chief executive Matthew Gould said the Bendigo Inventor Awards was chosen because of its vision to inspire the community.
“It was all about innovation, a point of difference, and it is also about community partnerships,” he said.
“I congratulate the Bendigo inventor awards for their achievement.”
Chief executive Craig Niemann said it was an honour to receive the award.
He said the award was recognition of all the hard work put in by organisers, sponsors and judges.
Mr Niemann said the Bendigo Inventor Awards was a great initiative: “It has grown into something that is relatively small into something pretty big and has the potential to grow even bigger.”
Mr Niemann said the award was another feather in the cap for Bendigo.
“Bendigo has a great name,” he said.
“We have been attracting people from around the country with the exhibitions we are holding and we are doing great things in the community.
“I think we are punching above our weight in terms of being a regional city and I think that is a combination of a host of things.
“It is a combination of the council thinking about how we can make this city the best regional city in Australia and we are making great strides in achieving that.”
