CCB more than doubled BSSC’s score in winning 14.9 (93) to 6.10 (46) at the Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Wednesday’s victory over its fierce rivals backed up CCB’s first two wins of the competition against Box Hill and Hallam.
CCB put a lethargic BSSC to the sword early, racing to a 32-point advantage at quarter-time as it led 6.3 to 1.1 in what was the defining period of the game.
“I was really impressed with our first quarter… it’s the best we’ve played so far this year,” CCB coach Lee Coghlan said.
“After the first quarter it was a fairly even contest, but our boys came out early and played really well to set the game up.”
Fergus Greene was again a strong target inside 50 for CCB, kicking four goals, including one after the half-time siren.
Jordan Rosengren and Harry Gadsden kicked two goals apiece.
The best players for CCB were led by Lachlan Wallace through the midfield, Greene in attack, onballer Gadsden, defender Isaac Ruff and ruckman Mitch Bennett.
BSSC coach Dean Sheldrick was left to lament his side’s poor start to the game, as well as the second term when it had plenty of the play, but kicked just 1.5.
“CCB was the much better side today and we just couldn’t get back into it after they made a strong start,” Sheldrick said.
“They were prepared really well from the first bounce and our guys probably weren’t switched on like they should have been and we got hurt on the scoreboard early.
“We matched it reasonably well with them after quarter-time, but couldn’t get anything happening on the scoreboard to peg them back. Their tackle pressure was really good on us and didn’t allow us any quick entries into our forward line.
“Full credit to CCB – they played a terrific game of footy today and were far too good for us.”
The loss leaves BSSC with a 1-2 record.
BSSC’s better players were led by Callum Draper on a wing, Hugh Schaeche off half-back and Sam Dean in a back pocket.
BSSC’s next game is against Essendon Keilor College on June 15.
CCB will be aiming to continue its unbeaten run and guarantee a semi-final berth when it plays its next match against Lilydale, also on June 15.
