Once again, the Miners’ frailty in defence was exposed as almost every time the visitors moved the ball wide or counter-attacked they looked like scoring.
Eltham ran in nine tries.
Bendigo’s strength is usually in the narrow channels where their big forwards regularly make considerable yardage when they hit the ball up.
However, in this game, they frequently turned the ball over after only a couple of hit-ups.
Bendigo’s sole score was a converted try to winger Ryan Spedding midway through the second half when the Miners were trailing 38-0.
At the halfway point of the season the Miners are ensconced in last place on the competition ladder.
Next Saturday, the Miners are at home to competition leader Kiwi Hawthorn.
