One week after suffering their first defeat of the season to top team Mitiamo, the Maroons outlasted last year’s runner-up 43-42 to consolidate second place on the ladder and move two games clear of Calivil and Bridgewater.
YCW moved to within one game of the top three when it defeated Inglewood 52-25.
After losing their first three games of the season, the Eagles have now won three-straight matches.
Reigning premier Pyramid Hill kept in touch with the top five by defeating Bears Lagoon-Serpentine 52-34. The Bulldogs have three of their past four matches.
Premiership favourite Mitiamo continued its winning run, but didn’t get it all its own way, in a 62-36 result against a gallant Marong. The Panthers’ total of 36 goals is the highest score Mitiamo has conceded this season.
The highlight of next round is the clash between Bridgewater and Newbridge.
