The record breaking full-forward flew to Darwin yesterday and will make his debut for St Mary’s in tomorrow night’s clash with Darwin.
Weeks, who is a farmer at Colbinabbin, is not sure how many games he’ll play with St Mary’s.
“I’ll play Saturday night and fly back on Sunday because we’re about to get busy on the farm with the harvest,’’ Weeks said yesterday.
“This could be the only game I play before Christmas because of the farm, we’ll just have to wait and see.
“Hopefully I’ll get a few more games in after Christmas and qualify for finals.
“St Mary’s are well aware of my situation and all they’re worried about is getting enough games to qualify for finals.”
Victorian footballers are heavily targetted by NTFL clubs to play in the summer competition.
Weeks kicked 164 goals this year to set a new record for most goals in a BFNL season.
Golden Square president Steve Sharp said Weeks had the club’s full support to play in Darwin.
“We’re not against Grant playing in Darwin, at all,’’ Sharp said.
“You can’t wrap your players up in cotton wool.
“It will be a great life experience for Grant to get up to Darwin and play some footy. We encourage him to do so.”
