It seems that in the Shire of Campaspe, if you live in any of the smaller communities, then perhaps it’s time to show that we do matter.
The Aquatic Services review paper has three options outlined.
Two of them involve demolishing pools that lie in rural towns.
These towns, Lockington, Colbinabbin, Tongala and Stanhope are struggling.
Many have very limited assets already.
Removing the outdoor pools will have many detrimental effects.
These pools are more than just an asset, they are home to vibrant communities, that welcome everyone, encourages children to not only learn a life skill, but also bond with other children in a safe, monitored environment.
It is a communal area that allows people to gather, express concerns, and support each other.
We respect and embrace the life guards and swim teachers, who know and watch our children grow.
How do we create stronger, healthier communities, when we let things be demolished, because they are not financially attractive?
Outdoor pools are never going to match indoor facilities.
But in times when obesity is an increasing problem, should we really be removing a pool that can help keep out kids healthy and safe?
No one wants kids swimming in channels and dams again.
That's why the pools were built in the first place.
Even the Victorian Coroner supports low patronage pools, as they serve a purpose in providing rural communities with a safe water environment, rather than risky dams and channels.
We need a shire that embraces all of its communities and finds a way to strengthen it, rather than making it harder to be a part of it.
We need the Shire of Campaspe to vote for option A, as the rural communities would rather pools that have a bit of wear and tear, than lose a vital part of our towns

Push for three R focus
In response to Ro Allen, Victoria ' s first gender and sexuality commissioner's comments.
I agree with you Ro, "it's a shame that our children are being used in political warfare".
Therefore politicians and others need to stop forcing this agenda of lifestyle choice down the throats of my children and let principals of our schools run their schools.
Concentrating on the three R's perhaps.
