Bendigo Theatre Company is currently in the middle of rehearsals for the musical, which opens at Ulumbarra on June 30.
But while cast sweat it out on stage, the BTC Arts Shed workshop is abuzz with volunteers building and painting sets that will make up the Addams Family mansion.
Addams Family co-director Vern Wall said anyone was welcome to help construct the sets with teams meeting at 9.30am each Wednesday.
“There may be retired chippies or builders or anyone who is handy with tools whose skills would be fantastic,” he said.
“None of it is difficult stuff. It's simple building but there's a good sense of people getting together having a chat and yarn afterwards.”
Mr Wall said the Addams Family mansion set would be seven metres high and 14 metres wide.
“We are using our own existing stock to build and paint the mansion as well as all the trimmings that go with it,” he said.
“It is a large building project to do and we're about half way through.
“The big job now is there’s a lot of painting to do. It's full on for the the next three weeks, which gives us a couple of weeks to do the final touches to bits and pieces (before the show opens).”
BTC is also planning on making good use of the facilities that Ulumbarra has on offer.
“There is a lot of sets, scrims and props were a flying in and out to make the interior of the house when we go from scene to scene,” he said.
“There is also plans to have some state-of-the-art digital projection, which we are in the process of finalising.”
The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2010 and was created by the authors and composers who created Jersey Boys.
“For anyone not aware of this show, it's a hilarious show,” Mr Wall said.
“Mum and dad will laugh at bits while kids will love the kooky-horror feel that comes with it.
“There’s a lot of visual gags and special effects, it's going to look really cool.”
The Addams Family is on at Ulumbarra from Thursday, June 30, until Sunday, July 3.
