The incident occurred just before 11.30am when a 41-year-old male veered off the road and hit the woman while she was checking her letterbox.
Leading Senior Constable Niall King of the Bendigo Highway Patrol said the incident was bizarre.
“At this stage (the crash) has occurred for unknown reasons,” he said.
“It appears to be a medical issue on the part of the driver, we may have to put his licence under review.”
Leading Senior Constable King said it could have easily been a fatal accident.
“She has suffered cuts and bruises. After getting struck by a one-and-a-half tonne car, she could have been a lot worse.”
“It is bizarre really, she was the only person in street at this time, the car ran off road and struck her right there.
“There could have been 100 other locations in the street where it could have happened.”
The woman was transported to Bendigo Health by paramedics for observation.
