“It felt to the members like last light was a normal Saturday night in Bendigo,” Sergeant Tony Kekich said.
Thousands of people attended the sold-out event, but caused little grief for police.
“Everyone was really well behaved and it was good to see so many young people in the one place enjoying themselves and having a good time,” Sergeant Kekich said.
“A lot of the time I think youth are criticised for even the smallest things, but their efforts yesterday were noted and appreciated by police.”
He said police arrested two intoxicated persons on Saturday night who had nothing to do with Groovin the Moo.
“The event is really well organised by event staff, which goes a long way for the police operation,” Sergeant Kekich said.
Bendigo Highway Patrol attended a collision in Norfolk Street towards the end of the event, nearby the Prince of Wales Showgrounds.
A 24-year-old man from Williamstown returned a positive drug test after a parked vehicle was struck.
Police are awaiting the results of further laboratory testing.
Sergeant Mick McCrann said the man was found to be driving on a suspended drivers licence.
“Given the high number of patrols and vehicles in the vicinity of the showgrounds at the time, it was very fortunate no-one was injured in the collision,” he said.
