The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm alert for most of Victoria, warning of damaging wind, heavy rainfall and large hailstones.
The warning, issued at 1.21am, was targeted to “people in the Central, Northern Country, North Central, North East, West and South Gippsland and parts of the Mallee, South West and Wimmera Forecast Districts.”
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours, and large hailstones are possible.
Bendigo and Maryborough are among the locations likely to be affected.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:25 am.
