Maryborough kicked the first two goals of the third term to get within 17 points of the Hawks, but the visitors responded with 11 unanswered goals.
The Magpies kicked the final three goals of the game to make the scoreline 20.14 (134) to 9.10 (64).
“After the results last week we knew Maryborough would show some fight and their pressure was very good,’’ Eaglehawk coach Luke Monaghan said.
“We were able to get away in the second half with some class, but overall we’re a long way off our best footy.”
Midfield duo Ben McPhee and Brodie Collins were best for Eaglehawk, while 200-gamer Glenn Daly and Brento Conforti continued their good form down back.
The Magpies showed plenty of improvement on their home turf and were best served by Jayden Templeton, Matt Johnston and Colby Herd.
